How you can help

Contribute to the Archive

Roller Derby Legacy is a community archive — it grows because skaters, families, researchers, broadcasters, and collectors take the time to share what they know. This page describes the kinds of contributions we are currently welcoming and how to reach the archive's stewardship team.

Share Information and Knowledge

Help preserve roller derby history by contributing names, dates, teams, stories, corrections, photographs, documents, and other historical evidence. Contributions are reviewed before verified information is added to the archive.

Contribute Historical Information

Share a Memory or Story

Write a personal memory, family story, career highlight, or a correction tied to a specific person. Each part of your contribution is reviewed on its own, and your original words are never silently changed.

Start a Contribution

Showcase Your Collection

Create a named collection and share your roller derby photographs, articles, programs, skates, uniforms, memorabilia, recordings, scrapbooks, personal memories, or an entire room of historical items with the community.

Contributing facts or evidence updates an existing historical record. Creating a collection builds your own public showcase. Identification suggestions and corrections are also welcome. Community submissions are reviewed and never become verified canonical facts automatically.

What we welcome

Each category below routes to the same stewardship contact. If your contribution spans multiple categories, please mention all of them in your message — the archive's research team will pick it up from there.

  • Historical corrections

Spotted a name spelled differently, a date that doesn't quite match a program, or a team affiliation that needs revisiting? Corrections — even small ones — improve every record they touch.

  • Story or memory

Personal recollections, family stories, scrapbooks, oral histories — anything that connects a skater's family record to the broader public history. Family narratives are tagged accordingly in the archive.

  • Event & match details

Programs, attendance, scores, key bouts, broadcast information, and venue details for specific events. Source references are especially valuable.

  • Photograph identification

If you recognize a skater, team, venue, or event in a photograph that's already in the archive, please get in touch. Specific identifications turn unidentified images into research-grade records.

  • Source citations

Newspaper articles, magazine features, broadcast appearances, programs, books, and academic work. A single solid citation can resolve months of research and is one of the most valuable contributions we receive.

  • Names, aliases, and other corrections

Roller derby careers often spanned skating names, married names, nicknames, and broadcast names. Submit these as historical corrections — the form supports them directly.

What the archive cannot accept right now

To protect contributors, rights holders, and the integrity of the historical record, the archive does not currently host public file uploads or anonymous self-service edits. If you have photographs, programs, film reels, or other physical material you would like the archive to preserve, please describe what you have in your message — the stewardship team will follow up to discuss condition, rights, attribution, and the safest preservation route.

Every contribution received goes through review by the archive's research team before it appears in any public record. Source status, confidence, and attribution are recorded for every claim.

Get in touch with the stewardship team

Roller Derby Legacy is stewarded by NoJo Enterprise Co., Ltd. on behalf of the community. Please send corrections, identifications, source references, and rights inquiries through the contact form. Include as much context as you can — names, dates, places, and how you came to know what you know.

Read how sources are reviewed

Every submission goes into a curator review queue with a public reference number. Use the status link above any time to check on the review state. The stewardship mailbox remains available for questions or material the forms above don't cover.
