Loretta Behrens, known on the track as 'Little Iodine', skated as women's captain of the New York Bombers during the 1960s banked-track era. She was inducted into the National Roller Derby Hall of Fame in 2012 in the skater category.

For decades after her own competitive career ended, Loretta remained the connective tissue of the roller derby community — a fixture at reunions, a custodian of relationships, and a personal archive of stories, photographs, and programs from a generation of teammates and opponents. She is remembered by family and friends across the world as the person whose phone tree, scrapbooks, and Las Vegas reunion energy kept the original community connected long after the last banked track was rolled up.

Roller Derby Legacy exists because of her. After her death, her grandson — who had spent childhood reunions absorbing the sport's history at her side — inherited the physical archive she had accumulated. The decision to share that archive publicly, rather than let it remain in a private collection, became the founding act of this site.
