Golden Era
VerifiedUnder Jerry Seltzer's leadership the San Francisco Bay Bombers become the flagship team and the sport reaches a second commercial peak. Ann Calvello, Joan Weston, Charlie O'Connell, Ralph Valladares, and Ronnie Robinson headline the era. Roller Derby closes its original incarnation in 1973.

1960s
Golden Era. Jerry Seltzer leads Roller Derby Enterprises after 1958. The San Francisco Bay Bombers emerge as the flagship franchise. Charlie O'Connell (HOF 1967), Ann Calvello (HOF 1968), Buddy Atkinson Sr. (HOF 1965), Ralph Valladares, Mike Gammon, and Ronnie Robinson headline the touring product. 1965 sees a 4-team playoff (Bombers, Cardenales, Chiefs, Pioneers). 1963 yearbook documents formal rosters for Bay Bombers, Westerners, Mexico City Cardenales, NY Chiefs, and Honolulu Hawaiians.
1970s
The original Roller Derby closes in 1973 after Jerry Seltzer winds down operations. Roller Games and breakaway leagues continue. Don Lastra continues officiating into the late 1970s.
1980s
The dormant decade. The sport survives in regional exhibitions and occasional television revivals. The Hall of Fame established in 1952 enters a long pause.
1990s
Roller Jam launches on TNN in 1999, attempting a televised revival. Don Lastra serves briefly as Chief Referee. The Hall of Fame remains dormant.
