Overview

The life & career

Midge 'Toughie' Brasuhn was inducted into the National Roller Derby Hall of Fame in 1956. She was one of the most recognizable women in the sport during the late 1940s and 1950s, with a competitive style that earned her the 'Toughie' moniker and made her a frequent draw at televised matches and arena tours.

She was married to fellow Hall of Famer Ken Monte (inducted 1963), a pairing that placed two pivots from the same generation in the institution's first decade of inductions. Their partnership made them one of the sport's first couples to be jointly recognized by the Hall.
